Patricia Ruiz

Patricia Ruiz is a Perfumer based in Spain, with over 12 years’ experience in the fragrance industry. She began her career as a compounder, where she quickly discovered a natural ability to memorise raw materials and recognise fragrances. Over time, this sensory aptitude and growing curiosity led her to pursue formal training as a perfumer.​​

Patricia developed her skills at dM Fragrances, learning to classify raw materials by olfactive family and identify them within finished compositions. She further refined her expertise through mentorship with a senior perfumer, progressing from simple accords to more complex formulations. For Patricia, perfumery is a continual learning process, with each creation offering new insight and experience.​​

She particularly enjoys the full creative journey of fragrance creation, from finding inspiration to translating an idea into a formula and finally experiencing the scent itself. Her preferred ingredients are woods and amber notes, such as sandalwood, Norlimbanol and Ambroxane, which she values for their warmth, mystery and elegance. She believes there are powerful when balanced correctly, as even small adjustments can alter a fragrance.​

Outside of perfumery, Patricia enjoys cooking, reading, watching films and playing video games. Cooking, in particular, inspires her creative process in perfumery, combining structure, intuition and experimentation. She strongly believes that while technology can support perfumers, the human nose and emotional connection to scent will always remain irreplaceable.
