Paloma Martin

Perfumer

When I see a fragrance on shelf that our team have worked on, I’m extremely proud, it takes a wide team and a lot of work to achieve this. It is very satisfying to think a perfume I created can be smelt by thousands of people.

Paloma Martín is a Perfumer at CPL Aromas Spain. Her path into perfumery grew naturally from two long-standing interests: music and chemistry. While still in high school, she was drawn to both disciplines, and later discovered perfumery as the place where they come together, combining structure, creativity, and emotion.

Paloma studied perfumery during her Master’s degree in ICAP (Cosmetic, Aroma and Perfume Engineering) in Montpellier, before gaining hands-on experience in the Grasse region at Concept Aromatique. She continues to develop her skills at CPL Aromas, believing that perfumery is about constant learning, that gets shaped by every new project.

She enjoys the early stages of a brief, taking time to absorb information and allow ideas to take shape before formulation begins. Her favourite ingredients are orris and sandalwood, which she values for their warm, creamy, and softly floral qualities, and often uses them in base accords when possible. Paloma embraces the creative challenge presented by increasing regulation and sustainability demands, seeing them as opportunities to find new solutions with more limited palettes.

Outside of perfumery, music remains central to her life. She is rarely without a melody, whether humming in the office or playing the guitar and writing lyrics at home. For Paloma, music and perfumery continually inspire one another, both shaping the way she creates and expresses emotion through scent.
