Global Marketing & Communications Manager

The purpose of the role is to work closely with the Leadership Team (GOB and GM) to develop and implement the strategic marketing plan in line with CPL business strategy. The role is responsible for developing and delivering CPL brand message and ensure it global consistency across all customer and employee touch points. The role is to drive increases in business growth by developing and implementing marketing communications to build a market / customer driven organisation across the globe utilizing all necessary communication channels.
Global Marketing Strategy:
- Develop and implement global marketing strategy in line with CPL business strategies
- Work with the country GM / marketing managers to support their implementation
- Analyze, assess and understand the market and client needs, perception and trend
- Support training of staff to ensure effective delivery of key selling messages
Marketing Communications:
- Drive the development and implementation of the marketing communication strategy to promote CPL
- Identify communication channels to deliver those messages to potential customers and market.
- In association with agencies and external suppliers, write and produce global communications
- Drive the development of core communication vehicles such as country specific websites, media exposure, magazine, conferences and sponsorships.
- Update CPL web page and all external content, update group presentations
- Provide advice and support to the country business teams to ensure effective marketing communication plans are in place and implemented
- Responsible and has ownership of brand and sub brands, trademarks, some legal stuff etc.
Branding Agency Management
- Ensure branding agency team are fully trained and understand fragrance, our products and our industry.
- Ensure CPL’s global teams provide regular stories and content for the brand agency to use.
- Maintaining branding consistency, ensure all divisions are following branding guidelines and keep the branding guidelines updated accordingly.
- Manage the branding agency and ensure that they produce a mutually agreed schedule of web news and updates, social media content, SharePoint content, ad campaigns, video content and new imagery in-line with CPL’s brand guidelines.
- Schedule stories across all media channels in line with the brand agency program.
- Manage and build press relationships globally ensuring our press contact list is growing and up to date.
- Schedule annual ad spend across various and appropriate media publications and websites globally.
- Work closely with press to ensure CPL get the opportunity to contribution to articles and comment pieces. Write articles for press in collaboration with the brand agency.
Market intelligence and product technology:
- Identify market trends, opportunities and threats
- Initiating and monitor market intelligence to adequately capture external and internal customer needs
- Liaise on a regular basis with sales teams, global marketing, technical and D&D to ensure information flow on customer needs and competition
- Work with the R&D and Technical Directors to best position new or relaunched global R&D concepts before releasing to the market. Produce internal training documents to support the new concepts and train them through the global business. Produce external presentations to introduce the new concepts to customers. Support the new concepts with appropriate marketing & PR campaigns.
- Work closely with the CPL lawyers to ensure CPL’s name and technology names are trademark protected, as appropriate, on a global scale.
Global Event Management and Support
- Work with the global divisions to determine best trade fairs to attend, and work with local teams to develop a coherent brand look across all events.
- Work closely with CAFOD and NAB Perfumery School to ensure CPL can equally support their initiatives.
- Work closely with global sales & marketing teams to ensure CPL’s data sources, such as Mintel and Euromonitor, continue to be appropriate to what our teams and our customers need.
- Compiling Forecast magazine, developing the annual calendar, developing social media content, transferring press releases to social media and website, occasionally writing articles and rewriting content from our fashion consultant.
- Managing CPL giveaways and calendars
- Relevant degree essential. Communications qualifications preferable.
- Extensive experience in a marcoms role with demonstrated track record in developing and implementing marketing communications plans and programs
- Tactical experience in developing and executing websites, PR programs, conference participation, market research, marketing collateral, advertising, etc.
- Excellent understanding and execution of brand strategy.
- Excellent PR/media relations, copywriting skills.
- High-level written and communication skills.
- Strong project management and time management skills.
- An understanding of fragrance, and perfumery industry.
- Creativity balanced with pragmatism.
