I have been surrounded by fragrance since childhood, and for me perfumery is the perfect balance between creativity, science, and collaboration, a way to create scents that connect cultures and stand the test of time.

Elie Fattal

Trainee Perfumer

Elie Fattal is a Trainee Perfumer at CPL Aromas, based in Dubai. Growing up in a family of perfumers, he was surrounded from a young age by scents, bottles, and the art of fragrance. Captivated by how a perfume evolves on the skin and the artistry behind its creation, he knew from the age of ten that perfumery was his calling.

Elie studied chemistry, earning a Master’s in Applied Chemistry from the University of Aleppo, before completing a second Master’s in Fragrance, Cosmetics, and Flavour Product Creation at ISIPCA in France. He then joined CPL Aromas as a fragrance development manager, later progressing to trainee perfumer, working between Paris and Dubai, combining hands-on creation with a deep understanding of the science behind fragrance.

For Elie, creativity can be sparked anywhere, a meeting, a journey, or even music. He enjoys working with flowers like ylang-ylang, tuberose, and mimosa, drawn to their complexity and the opportunity to push creative boundaries. His signature style blends Middle Eastern and European heritage, creating versatile, inclusive fragrances designed to resonate across cultures and stand the test of time.

Beyond the lab, Elie finds inspiration in mixology, exploring how different elements combine to create unique experiences, and in his early memories of Damascus roses, which shaped his connection to scent. He values the collaborative process of fragrance creation, seeing each project as a shared journey from concept to the shelf. Elie also embraces sustainability, supporting innovations like water-based and alcohol-free formulations as part of the future of perfumery.
