Aitana López de Carrión

Junior Perfumer

Aitana López de Carrión is a Junior Perfumer at CPL Aromas with over ten years of experience in the fragrance industry. Trained at ISIPCA in Versailles, her work sits at the intersection of science and creativity. She sees perfume as a way to tell stories, using scent to express ideas, emotions, and moments that resonate on a personal level.

Originally trained as a pharmacist, Aitana developed a strong background in chemistry alongside an early interest in botany and medicinal plants. While her studies were scientific, she was always drawn to creative fields such as art, design, fashion, and philosophy. After graduating, she realised that a traditional pharmaceutical path was not for her. A turning point came in Madrid, where she encountered an olfactory exhibition exploring the social and emotional role of scent. This experience led her to discover perfumery and to train at ISIPCA, joining CPL Aromas in fragrance development where she learnt more about the customer, selection and briefing side of projects specialising in the fine fragrance and niche categories. Aitana later moved into a full-time perfumer role, where she has since worked on an array of projects and formats.

Aitana finds inspiration in observation, experimentation, travel, and everyday life. Art and design strongly influence her creative process, with colour playing an important role in how she approaches formulating. She often describes ingredients as colours to work with, and defines her style as chromatic, eclectic, and concept-driven. Drawn to the unusual and expressive, she begins each project with a clear idea and a strong sense of purpose.
